Sometimes I would want Shep to do something in a scene, and there would be this doubting voice in my mind saying, No way a dog can do that. More often than not, when I searched the internet, I found evidence that indeed a dog could do whatever I had imagined for Shep!

It’s true! Dogs can open doors!

Dear Ms. Lorentz, Thank you for visiting us on Skype yesterday. I liked that you taught me that anyone in the world can write. I liked how you named the dogs in the book after your dogs and your family’s dogs. I also like that you wrote the book from the dog’s point of view. It was interesting that you told us about hurricane Katrina. Thanks a lot.

    Dear Ms.Lorentz,
Thankyou so much for Skyping with our class. My favorite part of your speech was when you anwsered my question on writing stories,it made me want to write an exciting adventure. When you said that if you had to be a dog, you would be a Irish Setter, I was excited because I have an Irish Setter at home as well as a Doberman. My Irish Setter is named Jessey and she protected my Mother and me from a snake in our yard. Then, my Mom scared it away.Thank you again. April

    Dear Ms. Lorentz,
Thank you for Skyping with my sixth grade class. My class really liked what you told us about how you were inspired because of hurricane Katrina. I liked the way you thought of all the dog’s names in the story like your parents dog Zeus and your friend’s dog Cheese. Overall, it was very nice of you to give us this opportunity to meet you.
    Thanks,
    Nicholas P.

Dear Ms. Lorentz, Thank you for Skyping with us. What i liked about the book was when they fought because it was cool how Frizzle stood up for all the other dogs. Thank you for all the hints you gave us about writing. The most interesting thing about the book was that Zeus lives through the storm then turns evil. If I were a dog, I would be a golden retriver because I have one as a pet at my house and it is really cool. My dog is gold with fluffy fur. I am going to read your last books. Thanks again. Ryan L

Thank you for giving us the oppotunity to Skype with you. Even though I was not there because of a doctor`s appointment, my teacher had told me what you had talked about. If you are a dog lover, why would you want to have dog`s fight in your book? However, I know what you mean because me dogs fight all the time and always get into trouble. I thank you again for writing this book. I thought that it was very exicting. I can`t wait for my mom to get the next books!

    Dear Ms. Lorentz,
Thank you for the wonderful presentation yesterday. I enjoyed hearing you talk about the book and the way you described things. I was planning on reading the book about the mall. The Storm Dogs was really interesting and funny. It was nice to read a book that you can understand. I hope we can Skype with you again sometime. I like the way you used dog talk in some parts of the book. The italicized part made me feel like I was one of the characters in the book. I was glad to have time to ask you questionsand getting an answer to them. Hope to talk to you soon.
    Thank you ,

Thank you for Skyping with us. It was a great experience. I liked the book, it was great. It was cool how you used dogs from real life. You made the book sound like it was real. The pictures that you showed us were sad, it is hard to believe that people would leave their dog outside. I am looking forward to reading the other books.

    Dear Ms. Lorentz,
I thought your book was very Interesting because I would have never thought of some of the words you used in dog talk. But, they were very well used. Thank you for Skyping us. Talking to the author is a lot different than reading the small section in the back of the book. I look forward to reading your other series.
    Thank you,
